Head Start

Head Start is a national child development program for children from birth

to age 5, which provides services to promote academic, social and emotional development for income-eligible families.

Fauquier Community Action Head Start program is a federal funded preschool program for income-eligible children, ages 3 to 5 years old who reside in Fauquier County.  We provide comprehensive services to enrolled children

and their families which include health, nutrition, family services, social/emotional and educational development.

Head Start recognizes that parents are the first and most important teachers

of their children. We build relationships with families that support well-being, families as learners and lifelong educators, families as advocates and leaders and connecting to the community.

We provide a learning environment that supports children’s growth in:

  • Cognition and general knowledge

  • Health and physical development
